About Eric Clapton's Sound

Eric Patrick Clapton (born 1945) is a British guitarist who has been a dominant force in blues-rock for over six decades. Starting with the Yardbirds, then John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, and a successful solo career, Clapton earned the nickname 'Slowhand' for his fluid, economical playing style. He's the only three-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His playing evolved from fiery blues-rock in the 1960s to a more refined, melodic approach. Clapton has sold over 280 million records worldwide and won 18 Grammy Awards.

Why Eric Clapton uses these

Clapton prefers a straightforward setup with low action for easy playability. His signature Stratocaster features active mid-boost circuitry developed with Fender. He switched from heavy Gibson-style guitars to Stratocasters in the 1970s, citing the lighter weight and comfort. His acoustic work, particularly on the MTV Unplugged album, showcased his fingerpicking abilities. Clapton has maintained consistent string gauges throughout his career, valuing reliability and consistency.
